So, let’s discuss how can we keep ourselves free of toxics…or at least minimize their impact on our health.
First let’s separate the two categories of toxic exposure, the one that we unknowingly receive and the one that we consciously participate in. Lets leave the latter for another time…unless you are interested in this subject too.
So, how do we deal with the toxics that we know or don’t know that exist in the air, water, food and soil?
Education is the answer. This is a big subject to have covered in one single blog post but at least I’ll get it started.
Education of all folks in the world is the ultimate solution to this problem. But how? Well, lets divide this subject in two parts: Defensive Education and Offensive Eduction. The first would teach folks how to prevent the contact with toxics or minimize the impact of toxics and the later would teach how everyone can help to minimize and eliminate the creation of toxics. As individuals we can all help by educating others and also by keeping ourselves toxic-free.
As an individual I can help myself by avoiding, as much as possible, taking in toxic substances, by avoiding toxic jobs or using all the job precautions recomended by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and also by eating clean foods and drinking pure water. This would be the defensive part.
Also, I can choose not to generate toxics by: not participating in jobs that use or create toxics, by not using toxics to paint, to lubricate, to clean, to disinfect, etc., by stopping the generation of trash and smog, etc.
Okay, this is a big subject and I’ll continue in the next time I have a chance but I do invite your opinion or expertise. Later…NTB
